I joined in Tau Beta Pi engineering honor society, which was started around 1885. The society organised a chapter meeting. The meeting was scheduled to start at 12.30pm as it was lunch time we had some food too.
As this was my first meeting and I was looking at others faces to find one familiar face. Almost all of the members were from either civil or mechanical departments. Still I kept watching at others hoping that I could get some company. The meeting was started and the first word which came from one of my co-member was “Let’s have Pizza …..” I stared at him and went to grab couple of slices of pizza.
I went back and sat in one of the corners. I had a small hope that I could find some of my department members. Ok we had a serious discussion about what is our schedule for the left over year and for the next year; I was thinking whose going to be over there next year as I will be graduated this semester. Looking at me my advisor said that you can even participate in the chapter activities even after graduation. I was surprised how she can read my mind.
Still I was alone and thinking of myself. All of a sudden every one calm down and I heard a strange voice somewhere from the front, “ Hemanth do you have any thing to say”. Luckily I got a chance to talk. I started talking about the importance of an engineer to the society and in the way an engineer can make the earth a better place to live.
I got in to contact with some of my electrical team members. I felt so happy to be as a member of such a big society. Finally I had some good time with the rest of the chapter members.
